Dominican Republic unable to host Youth World Confepaso Cup

The Paso Fino Youth Mundial was moved to Colombia

Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Republic will not host the 2008 Youth World Confepaso Cup as announced because the country was not able to fulfill the responsibility.

The event, which brings together young riders, age 4-24, was moved to Medellin, Colombia, and will be held in July.

CONFEPASO (Confederación Internacional de Caballos de Paso) is an International Paso Horse Confederation comprised of countries from around the world (Aruba, Colombia, Curaçao, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Germany, Panama, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, United States and Venezuela).

This non-profit corporation formed in 1990 to promote the development of the sport of Paso Fino horses and to unite Paso Fino associations worldwide. One of the purposes of the unification process is to supervise and coordinate international Paso Fino horse competitions with the intent to create a competition standard against which to compete.

The biennial CONFEPASO Mundial is the World Cup show of the Paso Fino horse breed and began in 1993 in the Dominican Republic. The location rotates among the affiliated countries and it is an honor for a country to be chosen as host.
